Our Journey
SHAROD began in 2017 with our first Durga Puja in Swindon, followed by vibrant celebrations of Rabindra-Nazrul Jayanti and Pohela Boishakh. As enthusiasm grew, we saw the need for a dedicated platform to preserve and share the rich heritage of Bengali culture.

What started as a few cultural gatherings soon evolved into a united mission—giving birth to SHAROD, an organisation committed to promoting Bengal’s traditions, values, and community spirit across Swindon and beyond.
SHAROD has always gone beyond cultural celebrations, extending its spirit of community to social impact both in the UK and abroad. From feeding key workers and vulnerable families during COVID in the UK, to raising funds and aid for flood-hit communities in India and Bangladesh, SHAROD has always believed in serving the community first.
